South Korea Secures 260,000 Nvidia GPUs to Power National AI Push
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is in South Korea for the first time in 15 years, and he’s making it count. During the APEC Summit 2025, Nvidia announced expanded partnerships with four of Korea’s biggest companies — Hyundai Motor Group, Samsung, SK Group, and Naver.
Together, they plan to accelerate South Korea’s AI transformation through large-scale GPU deployment, industrial AI, and research collaborations. The South Korean government said the country will secure over 260,000 of Nvidia’s latest GPUs to power its growing AI ecosystem.
Samsung teams up with Nvidia for AI mega-factory and 6G development
Samsung is taking its decades-long partnership with Nvidia to a new level. The two companies will build an AI mega-factory using more than 50,000 Nvidia GPUs and the Omniverse platform. This smart factory will use AI to optimize production in semiconductors, mobile devices, and robotics in real time.
Nvidia and Samsung are also co-developing HBM4, a next-generation high-bandwidth memory built for future AI systems. In addition, they are working with South Korean telecoms — SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus — and the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) to develop AI-RAN, an AI-driven 6G network technology designed to boost performance and energy efficiency.
Hyundai and Nvidia drive the future of mobility
Hyundai Motor Group and Nvidia are expanding their collaboration to strengthen AI infrastructure and advance physical AI — a field where AI systems operate in the real world. Their work will focus on autonomous driving, robotics, and smart manufacturing.
The companies will use 50,000 Nvidia Blackwell GPUs to train and deploy integrated AI models. They also plan to establish AI research centers in South Korea to accelerate innovation in smart mobility and industrial AI.
“AI is revolutionizing every facet of every industry,” said Jensen Huang, noting how Nvidia’s platforms are transforming transportation, robotics, and manufacturing.
SK and Naver expand cloud and physical AI collaboration
SK Group, the parent company of SK Hynix, is partnering with Nvidia to launch Asia’s first enterprise-led manufacturing AI cloud. The cloud will use Nvidia’s simulation and digital twin tools, offering access to industries, public institutions, and startups.
Meanwhile, Naver Cloud is joining Nvidia to build a Physical AI platform that links the digital and physical worlds. The platform will support AI adoption across sectors like semiconductors, shipbuilding, energy, and biotechnology.
“Just as cars are becoming software-defined, we’re entering the era of Physical AI,” said Naver founder Hae-jin Lee, describing how AI is now part of real-world operations.
Nvidia cements role in South Korea’s AI ecosystem
