Lamborghini Unveils Temerario Super Trofeo, Its Next-Gen Race Car for 2027
Lamborghini has pulled the covers off its latest race car, the Temerario Super Trofeo, at the annual World Finals in Misano, Italy. The car marks the sixth entry in Lamborghini’s single-make racing series under its Squadra Corse customer racing division.
Successor to the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2
The Temerario Super Trofeo will replace the Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2, which has been competing since 2022. The Huracan will continue racing until the end of 2026, after which the new Temerario will take over for the 2027 season.
A Powerful Twin-Turbo V8 Under the Hood
The new race car draws power from a twin-turbocharged V8 engine producing 640 horsepower. The unit is derived from the roadgoing Temerario, but Lamborghini has removed the hybrid element to make it track-focused. It also shares its engine and gearbox with the Temerario GT3, which will debut in next year’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.
Race-Ready Engineering and Design
The Temerario Super Trofeo features an ALU/CFK hybrid chassis with an integrated FIA roll cage for added safety. It comes with ABS braking and a 12-point adjustable traction control system, allowing racers to fine-tune handling for different track conditions.
Rouven Mohr, Lamborghini’s Chief Technical Officer, called it “the ultimate expression of our fun-to-drive philosophy.” He added that the new model bridges the roadgoing Temerario and the GT3 version, making it an ideal entry point for upcoming GT competitors.
Strengthening Lamborghini’s Racing Legacy
Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann reflected on the brand’s motorsport journey since 2009, when the Gallardo Super Trofeo first launched. Over 1,300 drivers have since participated in Super Trofeo races, making it a cornerstone of the brand’s racing strategy.
“With the Temerario Super Trofeo,” Winkelmann said, “we reaffirm our promise to deliver a pure race car for our growing community.”
As the Temerario Super Trofeo gears up for its 2027 debut, it continues Lamborghini’s push to bring road-inspired engineering to racetracks worldwide.
