Amazon and Google Unveil New Multicloud Network for Faster Cloud Links

Amazon and Google launched a new multicloud networking service to boost cloud reliability. The timing is sharp because the world saw major disruptions after an AWS outage in October. That incident pushed thousands of websites offline. It even broke popular apps like Snapchat and Reddit for hours. Analysts estimate business losses between $500 million and $650 million.

Private Cloud Links in Minutes, Not Weeks

The new service aims to fix these problems with faster and safer connectivity. Amazon and Google said customers can now create private, high-speed links between AWS and Google Cloud within minutes. Earlier, such connections often took weeks to set up. This change makes multicloud setups easier and more predictable.

AWS Interconnect Meets Google Cross-Cloud Interconnect

Amazon and Google merged two major products for this launch. AWS brought Interconnect–multicloud, while Google added Cross-Cloud Interconnect. Both companies said this union boosts network interoperability. It also gives enterprises more control over how they move data and applications between cloud platforms.

Tech Giants Call It a ‘Shift’ in Multicloud Connectivity

AWS executive Robert Kennedy called the joint effort a “fundamental shift” in cloud connectivity. Google Cloud’s Rob Enns said the network will simplify data movement for customers using more than one cloud provider. Salesforce is already testing the new connection method. More enterprise users are expected to join in the coming weeks.

Rising AI Demands Push Cloud Giants to Build Faster

Amazon and Google also face rising pressure to handle growing AI traffic. Companies worldwide need stronger infrastructure to support large-scale computing. That’s why tech giants continue to invest billions in global networks. AWS still leads the cloud market with $33 billion in Q3 revenue. Google Cloud generated $15.16 billion during the same period.
